About Me and my Cresteds

I have been training dogs in one form or another for over 25 years.  I have  experience in obedience, search and recovery and agility.  Agility has become the focus of my training and the newest of my skills.

I  adopted my first agility chinese crested dog in the spring of 1999.  This was a little female chinese crested hairless, Pristine Princess Cleopatra, aka Chloe.  This sweet little girl was not my first choice for a new baby, but Chloe was sure that I was her human and was quite persistent.  After a few hours of cuddling, cooing and looking absolutely adorable as only a crested can, Chloe went home.

Not knowing much about this unique little dog or the breed, the logical step was to find an AKC conformation dog show and see what other people had to say about Chloe.  Chloe and I competed unsuccessfully in conformation until one day, the judge took me aside and told stated that while Chloe was stunning, she would not win in conformation due to her being a true hairless and suggested agility.  Hmmmmm,
agility?  Isn't that were people scream and yell and run with their dogs off leash?  Well, it sounded like fun!

The first step in any agility career is to find a good trainer.  Easier said than done if you have a little hairless Chinese Crested.  After being turned away from the best agility training schools in Houston, ridiculed and belittled, a trainer stepped up.  She stated that Chloe might not ever make it out of the novice level of competition, but she would train me to the best of her ability.  And we did train!  Knowing that speed
would always be an issue, technical skills were trained to the point of perfection.  Chloe went from being a no-name dog from a no name kennels with a no name handler to the best in the country in only 3 short years.  Chloe retired in 2006 as Top AKC Crested 2004 & 2005.

MACH Pristine Princess Cleopatra

On July 7, 2003 Chloe blessed us with 3 puppies.  There were 2 boys, 1 hairless and 1 one puff,  and 1 hairless girl.  When I first saw this little girls, it was love at first site, with her white little body with just one little spot on her leg.  I had big plans for this little girl.  She was kept by me to become my next agility champion.  I used to tell her that if she were half the agility dog that her mother was that I would be happy.  Well, that little girl grew up and exceeded all my expectations.  She is MACH 4 Pyramids Pristine Passion.  She has had nationwide exposure for her agility capabilities including television and newspaper interviews.
